• In Navarre, the Vascones organized on their own around Pamplona.
• From the Northern Basque Nation (Iparralde), the Duchy of Vasconia stretched through the Garonne River into the Pyrenees.

The Vikings attacked the coast; the Franks attempted to regulate the Pyrenean passes; the Visigoths and later the Muslims clashed on the Ebro frontier.
